Do you remember that children’s song: head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes?

Teaching parts of the body that way was so easy! You learned about not just placement but also names. So it is in the natural, so it is in the spiritual.

Let’s head over to 1 Corinthians 12!

Although we are not focusing on the entire chapter, I pray that you read all of it.

Scripture:

18 But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 19 How strange a body would be if it had only one part! 20 Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.21 The eye can never say to the hand, “I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet, “I don’t need you.”

22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.

(1 Cor 12:18-22 NLT)

Observation: Paul presented to the Corinthian church that just as their own bodies comprise multiple parts, so does the body of Christ. For we, together, make up the body. We are all necessary to the cause and God placed us where we need to be just as He saw fit. With that said, Paul said that when one of us fails, we all do. The connectivity between each part is so strong that even when one of us is weak, we need to help that one. On the flip side, if one of us is rejoicing, we should rejoice together. At the end of the day, we in the body of Christ are helpers to each other and it needs our gifts.

Application: In life, sometimes, we can feel inadequate in our positions or desire more in what we do in life, and that’s okay. BUT God has you exactly where He wants you! Your part of the body meaning: your gifts, your talents, everything that you bring to the table is significant and God gave you those gifts for a reason. Don’t let the enemy convince you of being worthless or that what you carry is unnecessary. God makes room for us all in His family. Those who are strong can help those who are weak. Those who feel disposable are irreplaceable. We all have a purpose in Jesus Christ!

Prayer: God, thank you for creating me for purpose in your body. You placed me where I am so I may glorify and edify you through my gifts. Help me encourage those who may feel weak and help others to encourage me when I am weak. Lord, forgive me for seeing myself and others as less than when you have placed us all in our roles for a reason. Let us not compare or envy one another. Instead, let us desire in our hearts to aid each other so we live a life pleasing to you. Thank you for the spiritual family that we are accepted in. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
